Kenya Allies
by: Mike W

Kenya obviously views the UK as enough of an ally to allow UK armed forces (both regular and territorial army) to perform training operations in their country. A friend of mine is in Kenya at the moment with over 1000 other UK service men and woemn. The reason for the alliance is obvious.

Kenya's Allies
by: Arjen (webmaster)

Globally speaking, Kenya has always been one of the strongest African allies of the United States, during the Cold War and afterwards. Kenya's neighbor Tanzania was more in the socialist camp.

That's why the West didn't interfere in some of the more negative aspects of Kenyan governments up to the 1990s.

That's also probably why in 1998 the American embassy in Nairobi was bombed by an Islamist group apparently tied to Osama bin Laden.
