What type of visa do I need for this trip?

(Cardiff, Wales,UK)

I will be travelling to Nairobi for a week, then flying on to Kigali for 10 days before returning to Nairobi for a further 2 weeks. Do I need a multiple entry visa and can I buy this on arrival at Nairobi airport or would I need to get it in advance? Many thanks for your help.

Jo,

Thanks for your mail and the other moderators have covered your question.

Just a little tip, make sure you have US Dollars to pay for your multiple visa if you decide to get it at Nairobi Airport. If its busy then you can queue for a long time only to find that you need dollars to pay and that involves going back into arrivals and find the xchange shop. Yes it happened to me.

As the others have said....you would need a multiple entry visa. I know in the US you can file for one at the Kenya embassy and it saves some time once you land in Nairobi; so I would look into that. Enjoy your trip(s)!

Dear Jo McDonald,

You will definately need a multiple entry visa and you can get it on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Dear Jo,

I am almost sure you need a multiple visa. The single entry visa is only valid if you travel to Tanzania and I think Uganda and then come back within the 3 months. The transit is for the travellers entering Kenya and leaving same day to another country.
