The local kenyans try to create various types of jewellery as a means of income. By selling the goods in markets, they are able to keep their heads above the water. I have a lot of pride in these people as they have chosen the path which requires alot of hard work rather than crime. We are trying to help these people by purchasing directly from them at a fair price and giving them an incentive for progression in life. this can only be achieved with the support of UK customers.

markets in Kenya by: Irene O
Well I have been to many markets in Kenya...
You can buy really anything... name it and you find it. There are markets with only vegetables and fruits. Others offer furniture, kitchen equipment, lingerie, shoes, clothes, either new or second hand, books, bags, etc etc
There are special markets with items of soapstone, or only clothes mainly second hand, there are markets with only woodcarvings... or paintings. Especially in tourism areas.
There is a Masai Market in Nairobi with lots of souvenirs twice a week while other markets are open daily.

Kenya Markets, Western Kenya by: john
As Arjen say just about everything. You can buy vegetables, dry goods (corn, beans,) peanuts-they are called 'ground' nuts there. You can also buy fish, minnows, live chickens, fabrics, jewelry, pottery and more.
If you have a face book you may be able to see photos here
It depends to which market you go, but I've seen a LOT sold on markets in Kenya: vegetables, snacks, jewelry, clothes, sunglasses, cigarettes, ... Any additions anyone?
