Yes its true ... just talked to the management team at Galleria Mall and they have assured me that the Maasai Market will be open tomorrow (Saturday) and every Saturday after that ... they have made the right decision on this .... at least we will be able to shop in a controlled environment

Maasai Market at Galleria Mall

As has been mentioned the Maasai Market at Galleria Mall is no longer in operation ... it has been mentioned that it may re-open soon .... I was there and some fellow tourists I met talked of the need to have a crafts market away from the crowding they had experienced at other markets ... I am in the country for another 3 months and I hope the Galleria Market reopens.

Maasai Market at Galleria Mall

The new Galleria Mall is located at the junction of Magadi Road and Karen Road. It is about 3-5 kilometers from the main entrance to the Nairobi National Park. At this same junction is the Bomas of Kenya Cultural Center. You can visit the mall and other attractions nearby that include Karen Blixen, Giraffee Centre and the David Sheldrick Animal Rescue Centre.

Maasai Market - Galleria Mall
by: Anonymous

The new Maasai Market at Galleria Mall is a pleasing difference from the other markets. Its not crowded, its got a committee that has managed to keep brokers away, traffic to and from the Mall is not oppressive and from the Mall you can visit the surrounding areas without encountering our legendary traffic jams.

The Masai Market moves around...
by: Arjen (webmaster)

The Masai Market moves around Nairobi - it is held on different locations on different days, and it seems they change over time.

These seem to be the current venues/days, but just check with your hotel desk or a taxi driver when you're in Nairobi.

Tuesday - Westgate shopping centre, Upper car park

Friday - Village Market, Upper car park

Saturday & Sunday - Down town Nairobi, High Court parking

Sunday - YaYa Shopping Centre, Car park outside the shopping centre
