What currency to use in Kenya - Dollars or Pounds Sterling?

Some countries prefer to be paid in US Dollars or Sterling. What currency should we take when going to Kenya? Many thanks in advance.

Thankyou for your question and just to let you know that as soon as you walk out of Arrivals hall at Nairobi Aiport there are at least 3 ATM's that you can use to get Kenyan Shillings.

In Kenya they use the shilling as their curacy. When you land in Kenya there are many places where you can exchange money. Also if you have a ATM card you can withdraw money and it will be in Kenyan Shillings.

I know in big cities people will take US dollars so you can keep some if you would like. Hope this information is helpful.

Dear Amanda,

US Dollars and Sterling Pounds are very well accepted in Kenya and you can pay your bills with them without any hassles - however the Euro is also well accpeted.
