You've gotten some excellent answers.
the only thing I would add is on safari
Long sleeves and trousers will help protect
you from the sun and the dust.
and if you stay with the cotton linen fabrics
they'll help you stay cool.
Have a good trip,
John

Kenya is great! The sun can be a bit much for some so I always tell travelers.
Cotton and linen are your best friends when it comes to clothes. If you are hiking or camping then jeans and thick fabrics are needed but for the most part lose and airy clothing works best. As for shoes that all depends on what you will be doing. For hiking and a lot of walking then boots or closed toe shoes would be the most supportive. For every day shopping, around town, and what not sandals are nice. Hats and scarves are great to help you stay cool and to keep you from getting to much African sun.
The only this I would say is to make sure you have a little pit of everything in your luggage. Dressing in layers is always helpful and means you are ready for whatever comes your way. Also make sure you really know the region of Kenya you are going to and dress with that in mind.
Have a great trip!

You can wear anything you comfortable with. But keep in mind when you travel to Mombasa it can be very hot depending which month you are travelling in. From November to April it is very hot.... wear cotton shirts, shorts. But for dinner time something decent.
When on safari, in the morning it can still be a bit cold take a fleece jacket. Cotton trousers are most oomtortable. Sport shoes, open shoes it are ok.
Dont forget a hat cause you get burned easily.
