Visa's, Marriage et al by: Archie [Moderator]
Anne,
Thankyou for your question and its a hot one. Irene has covered it and I just would like to add some comments.
These days its not easy to get a visa to anywhere and that includes business trips. Certainly just being married to a citizen of USA or UK will not confer a right of entry. The legalaties are a bit murky and not clear.
It would be great to have freedom of movement with our partners but I fear that this will not be for a long time if ever. So Anne, you have to decide [as I have done] what are your priorities?
USA and UK are not the pots of gold that many people think about.
Kenya will change and once again become the leading light in Africa. Once the new constitution comes into fruition and the rest of the world recognises that Kenya is forward looking then countries around the world will look and admire progressiveness. Its then that Kenya will be the place to stay and enjoy while other major economies battle with their excesses.
HA Ha sorry I was off at a tangent there.
I do wish you much success with your beloved and do hope you attain your dreams.
Kind Regards
Archie

visa for the USA by: Irene O
I think that getting married will not automatically mean that you will get a visa for the USA. It is juts my though could be wrong but here in Europe also it does not mean that when you get married this results in an easier progress of obtaining a visa. Every country has it own rules. You should call the USA Embassy to request for that information.
I wish you good luck and hope you get the right information, I will try myself too to figure this out for you.
