Train from Nairobi to Mombasa

Hi

I am planning a visit to Kenya and would like a cheap and reliable way to travel from Nairobi to Mombasa and back. I have seen mention on your website of an overnight train running between Nairobi and Mombasa but I am not sure whether this service is still operational.

Can you please provide me with some information if this train still exists? If not, is there a bus service running between the two cities? How long does it take by bus and what is a rough estimate of the fare?

Dear Robert,

Yes the train is still operational and it would be the best option instead of a bus. They operate on certain days as follows

From Nairobi to Mombasa - Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's

From Mombasa to Nairobi - Tuesday's, Thursday's & Sunday's

The fare on 1st class is $50 per person one way and it includes Beddings, Dinner & Breakfast.
