Title of song used in chorus music?

by Julia Hogan
(Stuart, Florida, USA)

I'm looking for the title of a certain song from Kenya. The name of the song is some thing like ningwinggeta. Some of the lyrics are:

duki akuro dun yun da newayga un jay ray

...or some thing like that also that is the alto part. It's a Kenyan song. For the sheet music it has a translation in the very front in side cover.

Mr. Febus of Anderson middle school in Stuart used the songs for music in our schools last school year. I can't remember how to spell it but I can say it because that is the first word of the first line that the altos have is the song.

If you know what it is called, please let me know.

by: Archie Melrose

Julia,

Hiya and am pleased to say I found this link which I think has what you are searching for.

http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Ning-Wendete/1675188

I had a chat with my fiance on the phone and she told me it was a love song and with a bit of searching on the web eventually found this. Now that you have the correct spelling I am sure you can do the rest.

Glad to be of help

Kenyan Song
by: Archie Melrose

Julia,

Thanks for your mail and I can say almost 100 percent that the song is written in Kikuyu language.

I have some CD's at home and one of them is Ningwendete and is a Kikuyu gospel compilation.
My fiance is Kikuyu and 'ningwendete muno muno' means 'I love you very very much'.

I will ask her today if she can answer your original question

Archie

This is a hard one...
by: Arjen (webmaster)

hi Julia, to be honest it doesn't ring any bell. I tried to google the words you gave, and I don't find any matching result. So I think we'll have to wait for someone who drops by and recognizes this.

If you listed your email address when you submitted this question, you'll get an automatic reply when a new post is made here. Otherwise you'll have to check back yourself.

good luck,
Arjen
