Taking money out of the country?

How much money (Kenyan Shillings) can you take out of Kenya?

Several websites say that you can't take ANY Kenyan Shillings out of the country when you leave, but your website says you can take 100,000.

Please confirm that this is correct as of today.

Moving Money - Kenyan Shillings

Thanks for your mail. Moving currency from one country to another is fraught with red tape and regulation.

Personally I am intrigued why you would want to move KSH when the country is in dire economic need.

From a 'mzungu' point of view I want to invest and encourage Kenya economy and make sure that all my employees are Kenya nationals and their wages go into that economy.

Taking Kenyan Shillings out of the country

I took this fact from an authoritative country guide at the time of writing. I just checked the latest edition, it still says you can take 100,000 KSH out of the country.

If anyone else has different information, please add it here.
