Simmers in Nairobi

Arjen, thanks for this helpful site.

Just like to mention that I had a great time at the Simmers restaurant in downtown Nairobi. When I stayed in Nairobi I had lunch there almost every day.

It's simply a very relaxed place for beers or coffee and sandwiches, and lots of people come there.

In the evening, it can be really busy there. But watch out, I found out that some of the girls present there are 'working girls'...

Simmers.....ahhhh
by: Kenyan

Simmers is a nice lil restaurant and bar. But to my touring friends watch out for the working girls lest you take a killer disease back home to your wife. Word of caution ......the prettier they are the more hard working they are and that comes with unnecessary.

take care of your changes at Simmers
by: Anonymous

Simmers staff are polite and welcoming. However, one of their staff (tall brown boy) cheated me on the changes. I paid to him 1000 shilling for 150 shilling beer, but he gave me a change of 50. I argued with him in vain. I discussed with his supervisor, but the Supervisor was though sympathised for me, but did nothing.

Please take care of your changes at Simmers.

try the local food
by: Anonymous

I have to admit it was back in 2003 when we were in Nairobi and fell on Simmers. We were so impressed that we went there a few times more.

i can recommed the pre-cooked food of curries and local veg as well as the ugali. the fast foods of chips and burgers does not do the Kenyan food justice.

There was a local tout trying to sell trips - his name was George - very helpful and along with his driver we had a great day going up country to Naivasha and the region around it.

I am seconding Eric
by: Jose

What you have said is true and for many times I have been there at night. I really enjoyed the live performances, drinks, meals etc. But there is a lot of tension inside there at night, you have to be couragous enough - relax there at night.

I can second this one...
by: Arjen Koopman

hi Eric, I can second what you say about Simmers. Last time I was in Nairobi I spent many nice hours there, with coffee, sandwiches and the Daily Nation. Thanks!
