Road distances between Mombasa and other Kenyan cities

I'm looking for the road distances between Mombasa and the follwing cities in terms of mileage and driving time:

Nairobi, Ruiru, Machakos, Nakura, Eldoret, Nyeri, Kisumu and Meru.

I am grateful indeed for the detailed explanation. There could not have been a better mileage and time explained reply. Ofcourse, a practical first hand experience overshadows the Google details which can be taken as a support.

Hello,
I fully agree with Archie on Google Maps. They are not the most helpful getting around Kenya. They do however have one of the best maps of the country in my opinion. You can click on what city you would like and see the surrounding smaller towns. It is a good map for seeing where things are located but that is about it. Safe travels!

 Amendment to Travel Distances

Sorry but Google Maps will insist on Mombasa to Nairobi via Garissa which is totally crazy.

The correct distance is about 600km via Voi and Sultan Hamud on the A104. This will take about 9hours. Machakos is before Nairobi and that will be about 525km and 8hrs.

Arshad,
All distances in kilometres and times approximate assuming good roads. I have shown you the road numbers as well. Bear in mind Nairobi can be a nightmare during rush hour traffic and you can easily add another hour to the journey times shown below.

Mombasa to:
Machakos - 735km 10hours A104/C97
Nairobi - 800km 11hours A104

I have taken Nairobi as the central hub to your other destinations. You can add these on to the Mombasa-Nairobi leg.

Nairobi to:
Ruiru - 40km 1hour A2
Nyeri - 155km 2hours A2
Meru - 225km 3hours A2/B6

Nakuru - 160km 2hours A104
Kisumu - 345km 4.5hours A104/B1
Eldoret - 310km 4hours A104
