Orphans in West Porkot, Kenya

by David Chege
(Nairobi, Kenya)

I went to help some missionaries drill borehole in West Porkot.

Then I found those kids left unattended.

I gave them some biscuits and when they were over they started fighting to keep the empty packet.

Yes, This Is Kenya As Well...

Hi David, thanks for your picture. Great to hear that you're doing such development work in Kenya. In Kenya, there are also people who are better off than others and it's great when they give something back. There's a lot in this world that needs to be changed. I also experienced something like this once. Me and my friends were waiting in a car and a group of homeless orphans came to us begging for food. We gave our food to them but then some started fighting and the bigger boys grabbed the food from the younger ones. It was really sad to see. And I don't have easy answers to solve such problems. I have big respect for people working in orphanage homes. Real care, good upbringing and education may be a way out for such children. David - keep up the good work.
