Moonlight Bay Beach Cottages

by Gerhard Vogeli
(Basel, Switzerland)

I can second Frank's recommendation about Moonlight Bay Beach Cottages at Tiwi Beach. At least when I was there a year ago. The white cottages are very nice furnished indeed, with porches that overlook the beach. Not directly at the beach but close enough. It's a quiet place. The food was really excellent. It's not a very luxurious place, but it's high quality for the prices they ask. I think we payed some 40 euros per night for the big cottage (that's the best one) and main dishes were some 10 euros I think. The only downside was, no hot water in the showers. But it's so freaking hot at the coast that you won't mind. Say hi to the guy behind the bar, Ben, and to the guard, Mayer if you go there. He speaks quite some German!

LAID BACK HOLIDAY
by: nicholas kane

stayed her last week and nothing seem to have changed from the previous feedback from other guests. Ben and jackson still at the lovely small bar and now hot water available . have also converted one of the cottage to a beauty parlour with massage and hair do. lovely place and could recommend any body on budget safari but appreciating simplicity of stuff. Lovely african couple managing the place(george& carol)

An hidden paradise
by: Magdalene

Got to this site accidentally, but want to add to the comments from other previous person who have been here.

Moonlight now under Maweni & Capricho Beach Cottages is an hidden paradise, there beach is clean and unlike the other beach in Mombasa....was surprised that there are no beach boys there. Hence was the best place for our teenage girls.

The new swimming pool is cool; Has a free jacuuzi.
The african couple running the place are doing a great Job. Bravo!

Ben the bar Man &Thethe are great!

Would be back soon!

Laid back peace haven
by: collins murray

Bumped into this page accidentary. am staying at moonlight bay beach cottages at the moment 5th february 2009. Booked to stay for a week on our honeymoon from Uganda. Agree with you it is a nice and laid back place. but they have since merged with the neighbouring cottages maweni beach and now have access to the new pool at maweni. The restaurant staff Ben and colleagues were exicited when they read the previous remarks about.

The great Kenyan coast...
by: Arjen Koopman

Hi Gerhard, thanks for your post. Yes, the Kenyan coast area is a very special place - this mix of African and Arab cultures is pretty unique. There are a lot fine beach resorts there and Moonlight Bay Beach Cottages is one of them.
