to live in Nairobi
by: Irene O

Jambo Omar,

Kenya is a country where you will find safe and dangerous area's like anywhere in the world.. however you can avoid the area's where one should not go late at night or other area's not even in daytime... You must get your information before you travel to Kenya..
You can find most answers on this forum. Just 'typ it in' like the webmaster is suggesting.

About apartments. It all depends where you want to live. There are certain area's where the houses/ apartments are more expensive then in other area's. Prices are from approx 400 usd monthly in the middle class area's ( East land ) to average 1000 usd and more in the upper class area's like Karen, Westland, Millimani. The best thing to do is either when you have arrived to buy the Nation and see in the advertisements for houses to rent if there is anything which will suit you. Or visit some offices of estate agents. You must know that the house owners mostly deal with estate agents and you pay the rent to the agent, whereby a full month or even sometimes 2 full months are extra paid as commission for the agent... So read the conditions before you sign..

I wish you a great time in Kenya. Nairobi is hectic, interesting, and lively..
Regards Irene O.

Dear Omar, most questions have already been dealt with in detail at this site.

Pls. use the search function...

http://www.kenya-advisor.com/search-information-about-kenya.html

The only remaining thing might be prices of appartments. If you want something classy, then the prices are not much lower than in Europe. (Much) lower is possible. But I have little experience in this... Who knows?
