A friend of mine has died suddenly whilst living in Kenya. He has a british family who have received absolutely nothing from his estate. I have two questions:
1. Does anybody have the details of a reputable solicitor out there that can deal with our case.
2. How does a partner sharing a property and vehicle ownership with him stand legally against the family for inheritance purposes.
Any help you can give me would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Jay

I agree with Irene and the marriage laws in Kenya are straight down the line. I guess its because the justice system was inherited from colonial times. It seems to work most of the time.
You caught me out with polyandry and had to run away to do some searching. I suspect that within a generation or so that this practice will disappear. Its understandable why it happened when it comes to simple survival economics and I wonder whether this is still prevalent in South America as well as Nepal - I will check on that.
Meantime - In Kenya, weddings are prolific just the same as anywhere else. Gay weddings are not acceptable and please do some research into Uganda's recent history regarding that. Lesbian couples seem to be acceptable in the clubs but I think that any public display would be frowned upon. I have not encountered any homosexual men albeit I wasnt looking......haha
Kind Regards
Archie

legal marriages by: Irene O
As far as I know the only legaly accepted form of marriage is the monogamy. There are still several tribes having more then one wife but mostly through traditional ceremonies and not legaly recognised. There is always one legal wife and the others are co-wifes with or without permission or knowledge of the legal wife.
