by Visitor

I wanted to know if there is any exception to the Kenyan law that says you have to live with the child you wish to adopt for three months in kenya.

From my understanding in children and the law in relation to the 3 month period is that a person seeking to adopt the child ought to have lived with the child for 3 months within kenya prior to the proceedings

Thankyou for your question and yes its a hard one.

I would like to guide you to this website and perhaps a phone call to Clive or Mary who have 15 years experience dealing with adoptions in Kenya and the legal sides of this.

I do hope this helps

Does anyone know if there is any exception for kenyan citizens on the matter of having to live in Kenya for three months with child you wish to adopt.

3 Months

Hello,
From my understanding (and I am not an expert!) you need to be living in Kenya for all the papers of the adoption to be finalized. It can be as short as 3 months or as long as 5 (so I have been told by friends that have done it). Without living in the country while the paper work is being done the adoption will not be final. Here is a link that might help you with the process. http://www.kenya-advisor.com/kenya-adoption.html
