Kenya Self-Help Project is a 501c3 charity promoting partnerships in education & community development in Kendu Bay region of western Kenya. Our Scholarship & Girls Empowerment programs support the district's most needy children.
The project builds girls' latrines and operates Girls Clubs in Nyakongo zone primary schools. Bi-monthly meetings give peer support groups health & AIDS-prevention education aimed to keep girls in school.
The program also provides Dignity Kits to adolescent girls. Each Dignity Kit costs $5 and contains 2 sets of reusable sanitary pads made by local ladies (8 pads in all, 2 commercial sanitary pads and 2 pairs of panties. Without protection, girls stay home from school up to one week a month. Dignity Kits enable adolescent girls to remain in school, keep up with their studies and avoid dropout & early marriage.
KSHP seeks donors and partners to strengthen its Dignity Kit and Girls Club program. To learn more visit www.kenya-help.org
