Information about AVICO Aviation, Wilson Park, Nairobi

by Ravi
(Chennai,Tamilnadu, India)

Dear Friends, We are from India, my son saw an advertisement in a website that M/s AVICO aviation has started business in Kenya at Wilson Airport and wants fresh CPL holders whom they wish to recruit and train for their business clients. The cost is approx 20,000 Euro's. I now appeal to members to kindly let me know of this is a genuine business proposal or a hoax perpetrated by unscrupulous scamsters. Thanks.

I eagerly await any direction or light which will help us and our lives.

Thank you

Keep Off, Away from AVICO Aviation
by: Anonymous

I wish to advise all people to be very careful when dealing with the Avico Aviation company. As matter of fact, this company started off very well but a long the way (very short time) a certain foreigner joined the company as investor. He managed to push away the local (Kenyan) directors and shareholders.

He runs the company single hand.

Be careful, we have seen the guy (foreigner) in Nairobi and seem to enjoy himself, business as usual for him.

I was ripped off by AVICO
by: Anonymous

Dear friends and pilots

Given the difficulty that almost all pilots are at the beginning of their
career (where there is no job without experience and there is no
experience without work and where the secondary costs of
required type rating, most companies require that the
candidate pay your type rating before you sign any contract
medium), so I hereby share with you a situation

I was witness and victim of an elaborate fraud designed
only to commercial pilots.
Basically this fraud is based on extorting money or prior wire
transfer (and after the supposed company turns off the
candidate) or by cash payment on the first day of attendance
selection process and, at some point, do not remove the candidate.
Full payment 2,800 EUR (in 1400 and early 1400 over the other
front)
I fortunately managed to escape with life (thanks to my cold-blooded and
the rapid intervention of the ######## Embassy that had proceed with a
surgical precision) but would not now after what happened and inform
I also already meeting in ####### (just got injured with 1.400
EUR and with the cost of travel and sojourn of a week).
Woe to those cases where this is not passed.
I leave with a full copy of the email I sent to the ####### Embassy in
Nairobi - Kenya with all the attachments.
I remind you that this can happen with new faces, new names,
new locations, other promises of type rating and employment, other
amounts and different ways to proceed.

AVICO AVIATION ITS ALL A CON

Be careful
by: Kamau from Thika

Be careful with this organization. My sister got a job with this guys and they seemed not sure of what they are in the market to do. She ended up being frustrated mainly because they gave her a project to handle in the name of aircraft advertising when they had no contracts with aeroplanes. It was just a sham. They recruit left right and centre yet they have no offices as much as they have been waiting for wilson business park to be complete it is complete and they are not occupying the premise. they are not paying the recruited staff though expect the white elephant big projects to take off and employees to earn commissions. All i can say be wary, if you want my sisters contact to have a first hand narration of what Avico is all about let me know. I think alarm should be raised and directors investigated.

Might be hoax
by: Karanga Chapo

Well, jus like Arjen said, these guys could either be real or a hoax. I saw their stuff recently and some guy sent me an email where we are supposed to meet on 27th July so as to give more info, but their whole thing looks shady. First off, on their site they claim to be working in parntership with Skyjet Uganda but wikipedia claims that company collapsed in 2009. Also no-one at the Kenya School of Flying has ever heard of them, yet they claim that they are working together with them. And the most shocking part is that i went to the Wilson Business Park yesterday and the guards at the place told me avico does not exist. so i dont know. all i can do is wait and see wat happens on 27th.

Be careful
by: Arjen (webmaster)

I would be a bit careful with Avico Aviation. Their website seems to have been suspended, which is not a good sign, and on this forum you'll find many critical notes about them:

http://www.pprune.org/african-aviation/418412-avico-aviation-company-kenya-post5770823.html

I don't know for sure, I just say: be careful.

Unfortunately there are some con artists in Kenya, although usually they aren't hard to spot.

good luck,
Arjen
