Important People in Kenya's Tribes?

by Tyfany Myers
(California, USA)

I'm looking for information on important people from Kenya's tribes.

Like a leader, warrior, military person, president or inventor, and from which tribe they were.

Many thanks.

- Lornah Kiplagat, world famous runner, is a Kalenjin (from a sub tribe called the Keiyo), like many Kenyan runners by the way

Important Kenyans
by: Archie Melrose

I was reading your question and thought WOW but after a cup of coffee and some lateral thinking it occurred to me that most cities and towns around the world name their highways or streets after VIP's from their respective countries. So it is in Kenya, and can I suggest as a starting point you Google Map search for a street plan of Nairobi and other major towns in Kenya and then find a name and then websearch on that persons name.
For example - James Gichuru Road named after a prominent politician who was president of the KANU political party while Jomo Kenyatta [Future president of Kenya] was imprisoned by the British authorities
Argwings Kodhek Road - He was a famous politician too.
Kenyatta Avenue - Past president of Kenya

Hope this helps you make a start on your quest.

Archie
