How to transfer from NBO to WIL

by Ingrid Heerkens
(Amsterdam)

I'd like to know how to transfer between arriving on KL or KQ at NBO international and continuing on from WIlson Airport in Nairobi for a domestic flight?

Are there any regular bus services available as the airports are at least 15km apart??

Thanks for the info!

Txfer to Wilson Airport
by: Archie Melrose

I agree with Arjen and Irene,

The trip to Wilson Airport is just a taxi hop across the bush, I mean on tarmac, and at most about 30minutes. Matatus are fun but not after a long flight so just give them a miss. Grab a taxi and negotiate a good price, 2000ksh would be respectable.

Good travels

Transfer between the airports
by: Irene O.

Dear Ingrid,

I guess you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta with your international flight from Amsterdam and proceed to Mombasa from Wilson Airport or any other destination within Kenya?

Kenya Airways, Air Kenya and Fly 540 all fly as well from Jomo to Mombasa.

How much time you have in between the 2 flights? There are no transit busses going you can only either take a matatu ( local minivan which is used for transfers everywhere in Kenya) but not really comfortable cause mostly fully packed and with your luggage probably not a solution.

The best thing you do is to order a taxi in advance to pick you. You can do that through your agent in Kenya or any contact you have. If not ask the webmaster for my details so that I can assist you.

Take a taxi
by: Arjen (webmaster)

There may be buses or matatus going that direction, but honestly, I would take a taxi. I estimate it should cost around 1500/2000 Ksh (15-20 euros). There are always enough taxis at Nairobi airport and there's an ATM in the central hall where you can get KSH's from your European bank account.
