How to become a wedding and events advisor/florist in kenya

by Diana
(Eldoret.)

Hi,

I have always had the passion for becoming a wedding and events planner or advisor, and I would like to get started but I do not have the necessary experience I need, i am therefore looking for any organization that does these kind of activities within Kisumu or Eldoret town areas, but I have not known or seen any that I can approach to offer services for that would earn me some experience.

I have done some little reading and research from various sources on the internet on the requirements for that one needs to get started, and I know what is required of me to become one of the above, therefore all I need now is to get attached to an organization from where I will learn the procedures involved as it would be hard to venture into such an area without any prior experience.

I have tried to find organizations within Kenya especially within the regions I have mentioned above.

I am therefore requesting for some advice on how I can get to offer services for such organizations out there to help me realize my dream. Any advice will be highly welcome and appreciated, thank you.

Dear Diana,

When I lived in Kenya I witnessed many weddings in hotels. I was so suprised that people choosed to get married in a hotel.. while there are so many beautiful locations in Kenya to have a wedding ceremony.I retured to the Netherlands and decided to become a weddingplanner.. I did a professional course and obtained my diploma. This was more to have a certificate to show that I have learned all about it. Cause in practical you learn a profession when you are active.

If you want to become a weddingplanner but dont have the finances to do a course in Nairobi you can also get a online course much cheaper from www.fabjob.com
You will not get a diploma but will learn everything a weddingplanner should know. An event advisor course is also available. I would not combine both with being a florist as that is something totally different. Although flowers are needed at any event this you leave in the hands of the florist. Focus on one profession. Be good in one profession.

If you cant afford to obtain this course then sent me an email and I will assist you. you can reach me through my website which is mentioned below. I have some people working for me when I have weddings in Kenya. Maybe you can join us later. I do organise weddings in Kenya and Tanzania although I live myself in the Netherlands. Iam bounded with Kenya for many reasons.

Start with studying on the internet about locations, prices of venues, find out what people like, visit florists to get prices, photographers, anything to do with weddingplanning collect it. Make notes, go to weddings.. But honestly if you want to present your self professionally then a certificate is always recommended. Or to show a port folio.. Organise weddings of friends or family members and ask if you can use them for your port folio..

I wish you good luck. If there is anything you want to do in your life.. then go for it.. I believe that if you want to archieve your goal.. start right now.. and tell yourself I can do this.. never say I cant.. wrong..
If you want my assistance.. email me
