How has the climate changed over 50 years?

by Hannah
(Canada)

I am doing a project for school.

I am wondering how climate change is effecting Kenya.

If you have any data or statistics, please let me know.

Climate change in Kenya
by: Arjen (webmaster)

Data from UNDP says the annual temperature has increased by 1.0 degree Celcius from 1960 till a couple of years ago. This is almost entirely in line with global temperature changes. Globally, temperatures were going up (from the 19th century when measurements started) until 1945, then going down until 1970, going up until 1998 and then staying the same or going down just slightly. During the last hundred years global warming amounts to about 0.7 degrees Celcius.

I would urge you to be cautious when reading scare stories in the media. I've investigated once into this quite thoroughly and found that many stories didn't stand up to scrutiny. Always demand scientific, independent proof of claims - not just comments from politicians and campaigners.
