Giraffe Manor, Nairobi

The nicest place in Kenya where we stayed was the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi (Langata). But it's not in the city, but on the outskirts on a big piece of land surrounded by forest.

It's an old-English colonial-style hotel, pretty big, and the special thing is that it's also a giraffe sanctuary.

It's a special kind of Rothschild Giraffes. They are cared for there and when possible returned to the wild. The giraffes will stick their head through the windows so a giraffe is suddenly staring you in the eyes when you have breakfast!

Unfortunately it's not cheap but for us it was worth the price.

hi Peter and Diane, thanks for your comment. I've never visited Giraffe Manor but after your story, and visiting their good website, it's surely on my list of things to do next time I'm back in Kenya!
