Buildings in Kenya by: Cortney Gilliam
Could you have a building that shows the change in your country. It could show how you used to be compared to how you are now.

Buildings by: Irene O.
Buildings in Kenya are made of bricks, cement and look just like other buildings in the world.
The modern buildings which you find more and more in new developed areas have a very nice structure.
There are some buildings which are ' famous ' like the Kenyatta Conference Centre,Times Tower, Cooperative Bank,The last one was next to the American Embassy being bombed and now newly built again. Tourists do see this site when in Nairobi.
The American Embassy however is built out of town and very secured. It is hard to see from the road side and security is very tight.
Furthermore will ask my Kenyan contacts if they know of any more buildings and write it here later.
Kind regards Irene O.

Famous Buildings by: Archie Melrose
I am sorry to report that there are no famous buildings in Nairobi. When I say famous I mean something that you would want to visit and admire.
There does not seem to be the interest in building grand structures or even having ones photo taken with a backdrop of something memorable.
Many high rise business buildings have been built over the years but these can be found in any city in the world.
Many of the goverment buildings, houses and embassies are secreted away behind high hedges and high security and the chances of seeing them are virtually nil.
Your only recourse is to visit Mombasa which used to be the capital of Kenya until it was changed to Nairobi because of its suitability as a convenient railway junction. [1905] Mombasa has a wealth of interesting and unique buildings and although not famous they are worthwhile to explore.
