(UK)

I am on holiday in Kenya and will like to drive out by car, what do I need to know in terms of traffic laws and so on? Thanks.

Driving laws in Kenya
by: Arjen (webmaster)

Hi, the most important things to know are:

- driving is on the left (and it's illegal to import cars with the steering wheel on the left as in continental Europe)

- roads are bad to terrible, with large potholes, so

- driving can be quite dangerous as people drive like crazy and rules are often not kept

- there's lots of police checkpoints and police are corrupt - but white faces do wonders and if you get in trouble a bribe doesn't cost too much ;-)

- insurances are expensive and complicated
