Concerned about Nairobi airport security

(US)

I went home last year from the US. I was very sad by what I found out. At the airport (Jomo Kenyatta), this guy was opening up my stuff asking me what I had brought with me. I asked him very disgusted why he was asking.

All this time, this guy is very busy poking his dirty fingers in my bags that I had folded with the stuff that I had brought for my family. Then he went ahead to tell me that I had to pay for what I had brought with me. Mark you, he wanted me to give him the money and I knew then I was dealing with the highest level of CORRUPTION at the port of Kenyan entry.

Then, I paid and I vowed to take a hidden video with me at the Kenyan airport this time when I get home. I still have my receipts as proof! Which I will show the whole world. I will not care exposing these evil people to the whole world if that is what it takes!

Then when I was going back to the US, here they were again. Guess what??? They had even detained my luggage and had said that I could not go to the US without paying. This guy, I even knew his name. They are gluttons and I will definitely expose them to the world! I hope that Kenyan Airport authority will read this before I land there with my high tech camera!! I am Kenyan and i was DISGUSTED the picture we are painting for the world. Well, if that's the game, come on, and lets play and lets see who wins!! Disgusted!!

Maina, if you got receipts then it was customs duty and not a bribe.

IN TROUBLE FOR ASKING CHECKING IN TIME.
by: Anonymous

I went through Kenya on my way to the US on the 3rd of May 2013. Boarding time was 8pm. So I went to the security desk on the dot, I stayed there with the others for 20 minutes without being attended to. I asked what time they were going to start checking us in. The other guy and a lady started talking amongst themselves in their language and all looked at me with the 'we got you!,and I could sense that they did not like my asking. Then one of them said in a short while.

After 5 more minutes they started checking us in.I handed over my passport to the Immigration guy and started flipping thru. He said where is your ticket, I gave him. He said is this your passport, I said yes. He gave it to another girl who scanned it , got satisfied and gave it back to the guy. He took it , started asking me about the validity of the US VISA which was right in front of his face. I asked him to check the other expired US VISAs which were in my passport and cancelled WITHOUT PREJUDICE all with my face on them. He said 'Oh you live in the US, I said yes' He flipped thru again, gave it to the other girl Salome, who started flipping thru again, said she could not see a mark on my face, took it somewhere came back after almost 20 minutes. She gave it to me. The first guy wrote my name on the manifest form, I asked whether I was not in the manifest, he said 'You are'.

One thing I did was not show any motion, their motive was to make sure they really delayed me for asking about the Checking In Time but what I gladly knew was that the plane would leave with me on board other than that it would be a different story.

Thru security, the officer went thru my stuff and since there was nothing , he could not do anything. I went in sat where I could see what was going on. I realised it was just me who had my bag ransacked like that then a few who had water and were asked to take out the water themselves not the Officers. Its not the entire stuff who is like that, there are some that were very professional like the 2 Officers that were at the walk thru magnetometer and the girl at the Screen.

I believe it is my right to be informed of what is going on and not that I will be questioning your authority especially if you ask me to Check In at a certain time.
