Can you get married on the beach in Kenya?

I have been to a travel agents today to price up my dream wedding in Kenya (Diani Beach) and they have advised that I cannot get married actually on the beach in Kenya as the registra won't perform the ceremony on the sand - is this the case?

Irene,

Thanks so much for your offer and my apologies for the late reply.

My hearts desire would be to have our wedding ceremony with the backdrop of pink flamingoes in the sanctuary of Lake Nakuru. Can you imagine that?

Probably one of the most iconic pictures of Kenya is 'pink flamingoes' and this to me would be be the best.

The alternative would be Lake Bogoria with the hot springs firing up into the air but that might be difficult to arrange.

After our stay at Roberts Camp, Lake Baringo last year it was so much on our minds to have our wedding there. Lots of accommodation, great atmosphere and facilities, with so much space for everyone to have a great day.

As a professional weddingplanner for Kenya I can tell you that it is very much possible for you to get married at the beach.

We have organised several stunning beach weddings at the South Coast. You can also get married in a wild life park or at a dhow... And it is all legal and recognized.

The registrar or pastor does come to the location where you want to get married. There are several options and I would love to assist you. You will receive your certifcate after the ceremony and we will even legalise it for you.
