Can I bring medicines to donate to people in Kenya? How much?
Do the people have access to medicines such as Tylenol? Are they expensive? When I go to Kenya, could I bring some to help the people? Many thanks in advance for your answers.

Thanks for the offer by: Humanity United Against Poverty
It's kind of you to think of helping the health situation in Kenya. our government is doing so much but this will never suffice the grave situation. We are an medical NGO operating in Western Kenya. Please get in touch with us, we would like to get into a long term productive relationship with you over your offer. Please write to us at info@humanityunitedagainstpoverty.org.
Thank you again and hoping to read from you on due course.

Medications by: Archie [Moderator]
Thanks for your question and hope to be able to help.
Cassandra has given a list of good stuff and its only recently that I appreciated the difference between Tylenol and Ibrofurens.
Taking medication in your suitcase is fraught with all sorts of problems and yes you could fill it and forget your clothes. I always take LemSips and some form of painkillers but this is not enough to serve a community. I wish it was so!
The pharmacies are good in Kenya and they know their stuff but yes it has to be paid for. So my answer to you would be concentrate on Cassandra's list and do the best you can. You will not cover every medical situation thats for sure but you will be able to help with wisdom.
Choice - Its up to you to decide who is needy and who you can trust to disseminate medications. This is a hard question and its only through visitations and advice that you will find the answer.
Good luck in your ideals

Meds.....yes but.... by: Cassandra Marie
Meds are needed in Kenya. Most people can not afford them. But when you come I would make sure you are giving the meds to someone that will make sure they go where they need to go.
If you are going to work with a group or someone you know then ask them what they would do. Make sure you can really take them at their word. I love Kenya and plan to make it my home in the next year or so, but there are to many times I have been lead to believe one thing and it was not what really happened. The big thing is you make sure that the meds are getting to people who need them and not to people that "need them" to line their pockets with money.
Also if you are passing out meds do not do it in an open area. You do not want to be swarmed with people and then turn them away when you run out. Make a plan to go see people (carrying only the meds for them with you) in their homes. This helps you control things and stay safer.
The meds I see that are the most needed and that I bring every year are:
-Baby Tylenol
-Tylenol
-Ear meds
-Antiseptics
-Polysporin
-Hydrogen Peroxide
-Anti Worm Meds
-Vitamins (all kinds!)
Hope this helps. Thanks for asking this question and being open to helping meet some needs in Kenya. Safe travels.
