And may I urge you to be very cautious when buying shares? I just read a long analysis in a Dutch newspaper that, in the Netherlands, over the last 100 years (!) shares on average had had a lower return on investment than bonds, and bonds aren't half as risky.

I don't know the Kenyan figures. But do study all of this in advance, and be careful. As a non-professional individual, it is very hard to beat the market (largely made up by professional / institutional traders). And that's what you have to do if you want to earn money at any stock exchange. Better start your own small business, then you have much more control over your own future (and you do things that other people actually benefit from) :-)

Kenya Stock Exchange

Paul,

It seems that you must be 18years of age before you can purchase stocks or shares. This seems to be a standard all over the world. However there is such a thing as UTMA and UGMA which is explained on this link I am sending to you.

The Nairobi Stock Exchange [NSE] is explained in this link

There are many stockbrokers in Nairobi and I am sure you will find them advertised. However here is a link to a blog which has some interesting comments. It appears that stockbrokers are not the favourites amongst those who know but the NIC Bank is the place to go to help you
