Air Kenya is a small airline in Kenya, which operates chartered and scheduled flights within Kenya, Tanzania and other regional destinations at clients’ requests. The company has a good safety record with no fatal incidents, and a reputation for excellent service.

It’s base is Wilson Airport in Nairobi. It shouldn’t be confused with with Kenya Airways, the main Kenyan airline that flies also to many African, European and Asian destinations.

Fleet

The airline was started in 1985 in it’s current form, when it took over Sunbird Aviation. It has 6 propellor airplanes: three DeHavilland Twin Otter 300’s (18 passengers max.), two DeHavilland Dash 7’s (50 passengers max.) and one DeHavilland Dash 8. This last aircraft can seat up to 37 passengers.

Destinations

It’s destinations include Masai Mara, Amboseli, Samburu, Mombasa, Malindi, Lamu, Meru and Nanyuki. But when clients request this, the company flies as far as Addis Ababa, Khartoum, Asmara, Djibouti, the Seychelles or even further.

Company Information

The company has 160 employees, of whom 24 are pilots of various nationalities. The company is Kenyan owned. It has a sister company in Tanzania, Regional Air Service.
